Convolvulus mauritanicus

This groundcover makes a spectacular display at this time of year with its blue/purple flowers which go on until autumn. Not to be confused with its climbing relation known as morning glory which is an invasive pest seen smothering trees with white or purple flowers. C. mauritanicus is hardy but controllable – ideal in a low maintenance garden or hanging over walls. The flower colour could fit into an exotic, cottage or tropical theme. A  fast grower, once established will not require water, and will only need to be pruned to control spread if required. Left alone it will spread up to 1.5m with a height of 20cm. Will grow in full sun or part shade and is coastal tolerant. A pretty bullet proof plant.
